At the invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Benin, Mr. Aurélien Agbénonci, carried out a working visit to Riga, Latvia on 24 and 25 May 2018.
The Minister was accompanied for the occasion by Mrs. Nelly Ahouilihoua, Technical Adviser for Cooperation, Reform and Innovation, Mr. Eusèbe Agbangla, Ambassador of Benin to Latvia, Mr. Norbert Tity, Attaché at the Embassy of Benin in Denmark, and Mr. Alens Viktors Soglodzo Zodeugans, Honorary Consul of Benin in Riga.
Minister Aurélien Agbénonci’s working visit to Latvia was marked by a meeting with his Latvian counterpart, Mr Edgars Rinkevics.
The highlights of this meeting are the signing of the Ministry’s Guest Book, followed by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding creating a framework of consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries, for meetings alternately in Latvia and in Benin, on issues of common interest.
The ensuing working lunch allowed the two Ministers to agree on ways and means to boost Benin-Latvian cooperation.
During his stay, the Minister also had discussions with Latvian private sector and visited several companies as part of the search for win-win partnerships for investments in Benin. The Minister met with officials of the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), and paid a visit to the headquarters of the Olainfarm Company and the JSC “SAF Tehnika” Company.
