Inssuance or Renewal of Passports

APPLICATION FOR/RENEWAL OF ORDINARY PASSPORT

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

  • ordinary passport application/renewal form duly completed legibly in capital letters. DOWNLOAD HERE.
  • legalized copy of birth certificate (in case of a new application, please submit Form No. 1).
  • marriage certificate (for married women) .
  • copy of the consular card.
  • four (4) recent passport-size photos (format 35×45).
  • parental consent (for minors).
  • medical certificate (for persons wearing corrective lenses).
  • old passport (in case of renewal).
  • copy of evidence of profession.
  • forty-five (45) Euros for passport fees.
  • eight hundred (800) DKK for express shipping fees of passport by DHL from Copenhagen to Cotonou for issuance of passport and for return of issued passport from Cotonou to Copenhagen.
  • DKK 120 for returning passport to applicant by registered mail.
  • loss certificate of old passport, as applicable.
  • specimen signatures DOWNLOAD HERE.
  • certificate of citizenship or birth certificate of Beninese parent (for applicants born abroad).

Ordinary passport fees may be paid in cash, by cheque or by bank transfer.

In case of bank transfer, related charges are borne by the applicant and are roughly DKK 50 for the current year. Such charges may change.

Processing time is seventy-two (72) hours (working days) after reception of all required documents or information.  

Due to administrative procedure, applications may be processed only from the date when all the required documents are submitted to the Embassy.

APPLICATION FOR/RENEWAL OF SERVICE PASSPORT

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

  • request for issuance or renewal of service passport addressed to the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
  • service passport application or renewal form duly completed legibly in capital letters. DOWNLOAD HERE.
  • four (4) passport-size photos with white background.
  • a birth certificate.
  • copy of the first four (4) pages of the service passport.
  • copy of the service passport of the applying parent, in the case of a child.
  • application fees are XOF 7,500 or EUR 15.

The renewal of service passport is free of charge.


APPLICATION FOR/RENEWAL OF DIPLOMATIC PASSPORT

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

  • request for issuance or renewal of diplomatic passport addressed to the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
  • diplomatic passport application or renewal form duly completed legibly in capital letters. DOWNLOAD HERE.
  • four (4) passport-size photos with white background.
  • a birth certificate.
  • copy of the first four (4) pages of the old passport.
  • copy of the diplomatic passport of the applying parent, in the case of a child.
  • application fees are XOF 10,000 or EUR 20.

The renewal of diplomatic passport is free of charge.


EXTENSION OF ORDINARY PASSPORT

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

  • ordinary passport extension form duly completed legibly in capital letters. DOWNLOAD HERE.
  • two (2) recent passport-size photos (format 35×45).
  • DKK 500.
  • copy of the consular card.
  • passport shipping fees by registered mail to the applicant.
  • DKK 100 for applicants residing in Denmark.
  • DKK 120 for applicants residing outside Denmark.

Ordinary passport extension fees may be paid in cash, by cheque or by bank transfer.
