In an effort to strengthen its diplomatic action, the Government of the Republic of Benin, in accordance with the Government Program Action (PAG II) 1996-2005, decided to establish an Embassy in Copenhagen, Kingdom of Denmark in March 2004.
The objective is not only to strengthen the friendship and fruitful cooperation existing between the Republic of Benin and the Kingdom of Denmark, but also to establish closer ties between Benin Republic and the other Scandinavian countries (Sweden, Norway, Finland and Iceland) and the Baltic countries (Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania), which alongside Denmark, contribute to the fight against poverty in developing countries, particularly in the least developed countries.
The Embassy of Benin in Copenhagen has started functioning since January 3rd, 2005.
Its main activities focus on cooperation and promotion of Benin in the resident country and in the other countries in its jurisdiction, notably in the fields of economy, trade, culture, investment and tourism, and consular affairs.
