On June 28, 2017, Ambassador of the Republic of Benin to the Republic of Lithuania, H.E. Mr. Eusèbe Agbangla, presented his Letters of Credence to the President of the Republic of Lithuania, H.E. Mrs. Dalia Grybauskaitė, as part of efforts to boost bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

The ceremony was preceded by a series of meetings at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, especially with Mr Neris Germanas, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Mrs Liana Vazbienė, Director in charge of Africa, that laid the groundwork for enhanced bilateral cooperation between Benin and Lithuania.

In addition, the Ambassador held a meeting with Mr. Petras Zapolskas, Director of the State Protocol, to deliver the copies of his Letters of Credence.

Several initiatives were discussed by both parties to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.

This includes the promotion of business opportunities through the involvement of Lithuanian businessmen in the implementation of the flagship projects of the Government Action Program 2016-2021 and the marketing of products such as pineapple, cashew nut, shea butter on the Lithuanian market, as well as the setting up of partnerships between the universities and research centres of the two countries and cooperation at NGO level.
