On Wednesday, 11 October 2017, the Ambassador of Benin to the Kingdom of Denmark, His Excellency Mr Eusebe Agbangla, had a meeting with Professor Adebayo Olukoshi, Director of IDEA International’s Regional Office for Africa and West Asia, based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The discussions focused in particular on the responsibilities and benefits of Benin’s membership in the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA International) as the first French-speaking African country to join this intergovernmental organization created on February 27, 1995 and based in Stockholm in Sweden.

The two personalities also discussed the initiatives and prospects of IDEA International’s Strategic Plan 2018-2021, including the actions envisaged in Africa.

In this context, the Ambassador and his guest discussed the possibilities of a better participation of Benin as a member of the Council of Member States of International IDEA, in the activities planned by the Regional Office for Africa and West Asia.

Finally, Professor Adebayo Olukoshi reaffirmed his readiness to assist Benin in sharing its pioneering experience of democratic transitions in Africa within the intergovernmental organization.
